Petrochemical Plant Retrofit Project
Overcoming Operational Struggles with CCC’s Series 5 Control Solution
One of China’s two largest petroleum refiners faced a growing challenge at their Hunan Province refinery. After completing a retrofit in 2007 to update the obsolete compressor control system, the unit’s performance had initially improved—enhancing automation, reducing steam consumption, and lowering maintenance costs. However, by the time domestic demand surged, the plant faced increasing issues with surge, rotor repairs, and seal failures. Frequent shutdowns were disrupting operations, leading to decreased efficiency and heightened risk.
Recognizing the urgent need for an advanced solution, we partnered with the client to implement the Series 5 Control System. This technology overhauled the compressor control and protection systems, addressing both immediate issues and long-term performance goals.
