Overview
When operating critical infrastructure, a firewall is a proven and effective defense against outside tampering and interference. But it is not enough to simply select one — it has to be installed and configured correctly for it to be effective.
What Is It?
Cybersecurity attacks such as network storms are known to negatively impact the availability of industrial control systems (ICS). Maintenance of network devices — including firmware updates — may also unintentionally produce anomalous network traffic. Properly configured firewall devices provide effective isolation of the regulated ICS network and help protect your critical control systems.
How Does It Work?
CCC project engineers configure and test each firewall to maximize controller protection while ensuring the integrity of data communications. This helps reduce on-site work for a faster and trouble-free commissioning experience.
What Problems Does It Solve?
- Improves Security: Network segmentation with a firewall reduces the attack surface – reducing intrusion risks.
- Improves Uptime: Improved protection from Denial-of-Service attacks reduces downtime risks.
- Reduce Project Risks: Reviewing and testing security configurations well ahead of critical project milestones help avoid costly delays and project rework.
