ControlEdge™ Discrete PLC

Honeywell introduces ControlEdge Discrete PLC as a new addition to its Modular Control Systems Products portfolio. The Programmable Logic Controller is designed to meet the requirements of Discrete market as a Cybersecure high-speed PLC with scan speed of 1ms, catering to applications such as Palletizers/ Conveyor sorters in Warehouse automation & Material Handling, Packaging, Bottling and Labelling applications in Food & Beverage and Pharma and discrete applications in Web manufacturing, Metals, mining and Minerals etc. with capability of doing high speed motion control and meeting the needs of Discrete machine safety standards.

What Is It?
This fast Discrete PLC is targeted towards customers in the discrete automation industry such as Intralogistics, material handling as well as towards customers in hybrid automation space with significant exposure to discrete applications such as Food & Beverage, Metals, Mining and Minerals, Gigafactories, Semiconductors etc. This new PLC platform will be launched in Dec 2024 and will offer new features that will improve customer’s digitalization process while ensuring the best practices on cybersecurity.

How Does It Work?
Honeywell Control Edge Discrete PLC is a Fast PLC with increased memory, cybersecurity, motion control capability and which complies to machine safety standards EN ISO 13849 (Up to PL e). The platform also offers high speed network cards with open communication support like OPC-UA, Profinet, EtherNet/IP, EtherCAT, Modbus, etc. offering a competitive product with simplified configuration and seamless connectivity to external peripherals such as SCADA/HMI. The controller platforms also seamlessly integrate with distributed and networked IO modules, variable frequency drives and Servo drives. Embedded cyber security helps improve compliance and availability and reduce risk.
