QCS SE Machine Direction (MD) Controls utilizes industry proven Honeywell AlphaMPC model predictive control (MPC) technology to improve product quality and machine efficiency, while minimizing material and energy usage. 
The foundation of the MD Controls is the AlphaMPC controller. AlphaMPC has been designed to control the most difficult processes, with the least amount of configuration and maintenance effort.  It predicts the future state of controlled variables (CVs) based on previous control moves and the effects of disturbance variables, and then changes the set points of manipulated variables (MV) to achieve the desired control objectives.  Quality limits for CVs, and operational constraints for MVs are also taken into account.
