What is It?
Experion Backup and Restore (EBR) is a backup and recovery system that provides security against potential node failures due to viruses, failed applications, disk corruption, accidental deletion, natural calamities, and other hardware or software shutdowns. The backup and recovery system backs up the operating system, applications, service packs, and all configuration data. When time is of the essence following a disaster, Experion Backup & Restore can rapidly get the plant back in an operating condition.
How Does It Work?
Experion Backup and Restore enables users to backup operational physical nodes and virtual machines online, allowing rapid restoration in the event of a disaster.
The EBR solution supports:
- Creating point-in-time backup images of the computer’s hard drive(s) while the node is operational
- Backing up other qualified Honeywell applications
- Rapidly restoring hard disk drives of computers that are repaired or replaced
- Copying/restoring files from a specific backup
- Local creation of recovery disks from target computers
- Centralized management and recovery capabilities
What Problems Does it Solve?
Operating a plant or mill takes a sizeable investment in equipment and intellectual property. Much of that investment resides in computers that control and monitor the plant’s critical processes. Once commissioned and online, regular backups may be difficult if not impossible. EBR backup and recovery system solves this by providing online real-time backup while allowing parallel use of the control system by operations.
