Coating weight sensors directly measure coatings applied to substrates such as paper, delivering fast and accurate measurements suitable for machine and cross-direction coat weight control.
How Does It Work?
Single-sided coat weight sensors operate on the principle of selective absorption of infrared energy. The sensors can be configured to measure coatings such as calcium carbonate, clay, latex, polyethylene, polypropylene, and polyethylene terephthalate. Sensors can be mounted on single-sided scanners to measure one side of the sheet, or in the upper and lower heads of O-Frame scanners to measure both sides of the sheet.
What Problems Does It Solve?
Optimizing coating coverage is critical for meeting gloss and printability specifications for coated papers, to ensure the consistent performance of polymer coated substrates, and for reducing startup losses.
Coating measurements can be sent to the cloud based QCS 4.0 solution for advanced monitoring, analysis, and further Quality Control System optimization
