FCE Controller
Honeywell’s FCE (PMD) Controller regulates fieldbus-based processes and process equipment in process, machinery and drives (PMD) technology. It is ideal for speedy execution of control strategies.
Overview
The FCE Controller includes integrated tools to manage applications and offers centralized fieldbus maintenance and alarm and diagnostics management. With it, users can execute up to 3,000 application blocks on a single controller. This marks a 50% increase in application execution capacity compared to the current PMD controller. In addition, the FCE Controller uses heat pipe cooling technology, instead of cooling fans, to improve reliability and ease-of-use.
The controller is equipped with all the features required for controlling continuous and batch processes, machines and standalone and coordinated line drives. Its control tools support conventional controls and logic as well as advanced control methods such as fuzzy logic, neural net, optimization, multivariable controls and statistical process control.
How Does It Work?
The FCE Controller comprises a processor unit configured for high performance, two Profibus fieldbus interfaces, a multi-speed Upline/IOline highway interface which can connect TotalPlant Alcont’s I/O extension racks. The controller connects to the automation system’s network via Ethernet.
The FCE Controller generates and relays normal channel I/O data as well as channel-specific diagnostic and status data for each connected I/O unit. The automation system displays this uniformly, regardless of the device or fieldbus in use. Diagnostic and alarm data also appear on the automation system and are automatically routed to the system’s alarm mechanism.
